Прочая информацияFahrzeugstandort: Bovenden, Schalter 4, Chassis no: L239, Engine no: BA241, 45 bhp, 1,498 cc OHC inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 2,997 mm,brainchild of Noel Campbell Macklin, who had dabbled in motor cars for some years. and would subsequently be known for Railton cars and Fairmile patrol boats. His partnership with Hugh Eric Orr-Ewing produced Eric-Campbell automobiles, light assembled cars, some of which were later modified as Silver Hawk racing cars. By 1923, Macklin had attained the backing of sugar magnates Oliver and Philip Lyle and the ninth Earl Fitzwilliam, and he launched Invicta, the first product of which was a 2.5-litre car with a Coventry Simplex engine. Subsequent cars were Meadows powered. The smaller 12/45 was introduced in 1931, with 1.5-litre Blackburne power. Production continued through 1934, but only about 60 were built. The Invicta Car Club records that chassis number L 239 was originally built as a saloon. It was registered in January 1934 as AXE 750, a London number. Its early ownership is uncertain, but from 1958 to 1968, it was owned by a Mr Standing, who sold it to a Mr Bentley. By 1980, it was a rolling chassis belonging to B.M. Barton in Nottingham. In 1985, it was acquired by Terry Heard of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, who rebuilt the Invicta with a new Touring body constructed by Vintage Friction of Bristol. The saloon wings and running boards were retained, but the louvered valences were newly constructed. At this time, the engine was rebuilt by Rendall Hour Time, known for preparing cars for VSCC events. It is known to have competed at Enstone and other venues, as well as touring in France. By 1997, it was in the stewardship of the late Roger Lees of Poole, Dorset, and was then subsequently acquired by the current consignor. A well-sorted car with vintage sports pedigree, this machine will be ideal for VSCC events. Insgesamt wurden ca. 550.00,- EUR in technische Arbeiten investiert.
